Henry Taylor was born 14th Feb 1880 in West Ham, London. He was the second son of Charles and Alice Taylor (nee Smith).

We know that in 1884 the family moved to Nottingham. According to the birth certificate his sister Emily was born in a van opposite Goodhead Street in November 1884 which indicates the family may have been travellers/gypsies.

Henrys brother, George William Taylor was born at St Philips, Nottingham in July 1892. We believe his father was Moses M A Kadar, a general practioner in Nottingham, orginally from the West Indies.

Between 1892 and 1895 we know the family moved to Norton Canes in Staffordshire.

In 1895, his mother, Alice had another child, Lucy at Norton Canes. We are unsure of who her father was at present.

Just a card to let you know we got here alright and they are all well. Dad says he expects you have got some luck by now, we hope so and don't forget the greenhouse. Trusting you are all well.
