1915

Spring 1915 - Marriage of Fred Mears & Lizzie Lloyd at Stafford, Staffordshire.

We know that Lizzie lived at 103, Peel Terrace, Stafford at the time of Williams death.

It appears she never remarried and was living with her sister & their family in 1939.

1917

23 August 1917 - Death of Fred Mears, age 27. Fred was serving as a Lance Corporal in The Duke Of Cornwall Light Infantry and died from wounds in the Western Theatre of World War 1. His army number was 14888. His memorial below is at Menin Rod South Military Cemetary, near Ypres.

The inscription on the headstone reads:
LAID DOWN THE CROSS TO TAKE UP THE CROWN SADLY MISSED BY HIS LOVING WIFE
