John Craddock was born in early 1807 in Great Wyrley. He was the second son of Walter Craddock from Cannock Wood and Mary Craddock nee Whittington (or possibly Widington or
Withington?) from Norton Canes
John was christened at Norton Canes, Staffordshire on 7th February 1807.
John had an older brother, James , born in 1805 and younger siblings Robert, born
1808, Charles, 1809, Nancy, 1813, Letitia, 1816 and Pheobe born in 1820.
We are still trying to find out details of Johns younger life but John probably lived in Norton Canes throughout his childhood, as his
parents & siblings still lived in the village in 1841.
On 27th July 1830, John, age 27, married Honor Horton. age 20, from Cannock, daughter of Walter and Lucy Horton.
They married at the Parish Church in Cannock and the
couple started their married life living in Great Wyrley.
